Loving Rihanna's Red Curls!

The much hated "before" red
You all know I was not impressed when singer, Rihanna started sporting candy apple red hair, that had her looking more like Ronald McDonald, than the superstar she is.  I think I might be a hairstyle or two behind (girl is keeping me on my toes!).  I was impressed, however, when I saw that she toned down the color from the garish red she'd been wearing,  to this fabulous violet/red shade.  I'm also loving the curls!

To achieve her look, I would start with a Miss MyMy Medium curl 14' inch wig, or Medium curl extensions. The hair will have to be colored to a rich red shade.  I like Wella in Chili Red, or Claret.  Our curly hair, like all our hair, is natural; and that means the curls will hold a curled style much better.   Curly hair wants to be curled.  I would start by spraying some holding spray, then taking small sections at a time and spiral curling with a 1/2' barrel curling iron.  Spray with some finishing spray, run some Hair Essence hair serum through with your fingers, and separate the curls with your fingers.  Voila!  Ready to hit the town!

Have You Tried Our Spa Dip Treatment?

Every once in a while, even your natural born locks, gets a bit frazzled.  Constant styling, heat, cold weather, can all take its toll.  As important as it is to condition and treat your own hair, it’s also important to condition and treat your purchased hair.
This little jewel in a 60ml bottle is what you would need to add much needed moisture and to replenish your tired locks.  I would suggest at least once every 4-6 weeks, you treat your hair, (whether a wig or extensions) with the Spa Dipping Treatment.
For removable units, i.e. non-adhesive wigs, gently wash your wig using Miss MyMy Shampoo Series Nourishing Shampoo.  After cleansing, squeeze a couple tablespoons of Spa Dip into warm water in a basin or bucket.  Swish it around to mix a bit.  Soak your wig in the solution for at least an hour.  Comb through with a wide toothed comb.   Rinse thoroughly, then dry and style as usual.  I would suggest a couple pumps of Hair Serum combed throughout prior to drying.

If your wig is applied using adhesives, like tape or glue, you can take the opportunity to treat your hair, when you remove it to re-do the adhesives.

If your hair is applied, (like sewn in hair extensions or wigs), shampoo your hair normally; then massage a generous amount of Spa Dip throughout your hair.  Comb through using a large toothed comb; let sit for at least 15 minutes.  For best results, wear a plastic cap and keep on at least 20 minutes.  Dry and style as usual.

Different Grades (Quality)of Hair Extensions and WIgs

We often get calls from people wanting to know what the difference is between our hair and other brands. There is a lot of confusion out there surrounding hair and the different quality of hair so we though this blog posting would be great to help people understand what what they are buying and decide what is the best value for them.

Low quality human hair:
The hair is not cut hair, it's fallen hair so the cuticle of the hair can be mixed up
The hair is removed from the head and allowed to fall to the floor, allowing  the roots and ends to be mixed up, creating cuticles that do not run in the same direction. This causes tangling.
Because of the reverse cuticles the hair goes through a lot of chemical processing to the cuticle to reduce this tangling as much as possible. This processing causes extensive damage to the cuticle. This creates dull, dry hair. To hide this, the hair is covered with a grape seed oil or silicone. This coating slowly washes off as the hair is shampooed.  The hair then goes through additional chemical processing to create various textures and colors. Dyes used on low quality hair are often fabric dyes, and because of this, the hair will not react properly if colored later.

Good quality human hair is referred to as "Remi", "Remin", or "Remy."
The cuticle of the hair is facing one direction and should be fairly intact the hair may go through a process to orient the cuticles into the correct direction. This hair is sometimes chemically treated just in case the procerssor missed a hair on two while trying to orient them. Cheaper brands of remi hair can have some damage to the cuticle caused by processing. This hair should not be colored and will still dry out faster over time. It has longer wear than low quality hair but still will need to be replaced  on a regular basis. The hair experiences additional chemical processing to  create various textures. This hair is sometimes referred to as "European Quality Hair." This is not actually European hair, but hair that has been stripped dowm slightly so that it resembles the feel of a European cuticle strand.

High quality human hair
This hair has a healthy cuticle, if not fully intact. The textures of this hair are natural, not chemically introduced, some hair is straight and some is wavy. High quality hair will wear up to a year if treated properly. Again, natural colors are dark so hair goes through a stripping process to create lighter colors, therefore causing the cuticle to open a little. Try to avoid coloring. If you want to color use the same color process and products that you would use if you were coloring the hair growing form your head.

Very high quality human hair is Remy as well as "Virgin" or "Raw."
It has never been treated with ANY chemical process, and has usually been grown with the intent of selling. The cuticle is completely intact. Even within this category the hair comes in separate grades, with A being that of a young child's suffering little environmental damage, and D being that of an older donor with slightly more coarseness to the hair, If you are ordering longer lengths chances are the client is older. It can safely be colored or permed, and is extremely expensive and rare. Many companies try to pass their hair off as this fraudulently. This hair can be worn for years with proper care.

Miss MyMy Specializes in this type of hair. www.missmymy.com/virgin_cuticle.html

Next time you are trying to figure out the difference between the 300 dollar wig and the $1200 dollar wig or $70 dollar extensions versus $300 extensions think about the above information.

Hand Tied and Machine Tied Wefts Explained

In the past little while we have received many questions regarding hand tied weft compared to machine tied weft so here is the comparison:

Hand tied wefts are exactly what it sounds like; hand tied. Trust me, it takes forever to do.  I've done it. :-(
The weft is ultra thin and pre cut into measurements of about 10 to 12 inches,  so you need not, and SHOULD not cut the weft.  If the weft is too long,  all you need to do is fold it back on itself. It is so thin that even when you fold it back it's still thinner than a machine tied weft.
If it isn't wide enough to go from one end of the clients head to the other simply over lap the weave.
This type of weft will NEVER shed which is one of the concerns people have when wearing hair.
Hand tied hair.

Machine tied is made with a sewing machine that is able to sew the hair into a weft. This weft is one continuous weft which looks similar to the surged seam on the inside of your clothing. Depending on the machine that is used the weft could be very secure or not so secure; as is commonplace with lower-end hair. Before using, we recommend checking your weft by pulling the hair downward to see if you are losing any hair.  If you find you are losing hair,  you can reinforce the weft with a regular sewing machine.  I know some of you are very handy!
When putting in a machine tied weft, you will need to cut the weft to the length that is needed. Any time you cut the weft, however, you introduce an area where the hair can come out. If you don't do something to reinforce the cut ends, the thread can unravel. We suggest either gluing the ends in order to prevent that or sewing the ends to avoid hair loss. If you don't do the above you may experience hair loss because each cut end will lose hair giving the appearance that the complete weft is shedding.

We prefer hand tied and mainly sell hand tied but it's a personal preference.

Hope this helps
MyMy  ;-)

Skin Weft

Skin Weft with adhesive is perfect for those who love the Hot Heads application method but want organic hair. Each hair is hand tied on a 3/8' lace base. Silicone is then applied to each piece.

Our hair is available in lengths from 12” to 28” and longer by special order.

Miss MyMy Skin Weft is a cold bond method so it does not require heat. Application is by double sided tape. They are available in single pieces (22 per pack) pre bonded, or in lengths of 1 meter with or without double sided tape.

Miss MyMy Skin Wefts are made with our Virgin Organic Hair. Our organic hair has not been chemically treated other than being cleaned and sterilized so you can expect natural bounce and shine with every piece...not to mention being able to swim in chlorine and/or salt water without fear. The hair is available in various textures from straight to tightly curled, so finding the right one for you is never a problem. If you need a color that is not available naturally we will be more than happy to color the hair, personalizing it to the color of your choice...this can also be done by your own cosmetologist...no need to color your own hair.
Here, we started with a natural dark brown Malaysian hair.
We added hair bleach and 40% developer.
The final golden blond hair we achieved.

Here’s how to apply a complete set of Miss MyMy permanent Skin Weft extensions adding not only length, but volume and or highlights in less than 1 hour. The days of spending huge amounts of money on hair that not only matts and tangles but falls out and cannot be reused are over. The days of not being able to find a texture or curl to blend with your hair are over. Miss MyMy’ Skin Weft takes care of all of that. completely reusable, organic and tangle free Miss MyMy Skin Weft is completely undetectable.

Start all service with clean and dry hair. Do not apply any products to the hair.
Section and separate the hair where you want to attach Miss MyMy Skin Weft

Remove the backing on the skin weft and place under the thin section of hair that was separated.
The adhesive should be about 1/8 inch away from the scalp.
Press the hair into the adhesive strip.

Place the second Miss MyMy Skin Weft on top of the first, sandwiching the natural hair between.
Press down to acheive good adhesion

Comb hair on top for a seamless invisible look.

      Voila!  Instant highlights!

      Styling Tips for Curly Hair

While the Miss MyMy curly hair wigs and extensions http://www.missmymy.com/wigs.html
http://www.missmymy.com/remi_cuticle.html are a truly beautiful thing, there are a few things you should know in order to keep your curl looking it's Miss MyMy best.

      Clean
Curly hair tends to get very dry very quickly. It's imperative that you wash your hair at least weekly with a moisturizing shampoo. Miss MyMy's Nourishing Shampoo is formulated to clean your hair without stripping your hair. People tend to think that frequent washing will wash out all the moisture from their hair, but think of it this way: when you wash your hair, you are saturating it with water, cleaning away pollutants and build up which can cause your hair to not behave properly. Believe it or not, even your natural scalp oil if allowed to build up for weeks on end (trust me, Miss MyMy has seen it ALL!) can cause the hair on your wig to break.

      Condition
Once you've cleaned your hair, you want to lock in some of that moisture with a good conditioner. Miss MyMy's Pliant Conditioner Series is specially formulated to replenish your hair with moisture. Your hair is left feeling silky and smelling great too! I like to comb my conditioner through with a wide tooth comb.

      Serum

I was reading in a fashion magazine this morning about caring for curly hair (which is where I got the idea of today's blog topic) and one of the things mentioned, was serum. Well, well, well...Miss MyMy has been shouting the praises on Miss MyMy Hair Essence Hair Serum for years! This is the second article in the past couple weeks that I've seen them mention the importance of serum. In one of my previous posts, I mentioned using serum with styling to achieve the long, straight look. I've been telling you all for years, with your curly hair, whether it's a wig or hair extensions, you'll want to smooth some serum through your wet hair. Comb it through thoroughly. Allow it to air dry UNDISTURBED if you can. If you can't, then blow dry using a diffuser. SCRUNCH those curls!

      Avoid Over Touching
While your hair is drying, resist the temptation to run your fingers through. All that touching creates friction. Friction creates frizz! I know, it's hard to resist touching your lovely Miss MyMy hair ;-)

      Periodic Deep Treatments
At least once every 4-6 weeks, give that hair a deep treatment. If it's a removable unit, Miss MyMy Spa dip is an excellent product! (soon available online) Simply add a small amount to some warm water in a basin, and soak your (already washed) unit for at least 30 minutes. If your unit is sewn in or glued on, you can apply a deep treatment, wrap hair in a warm wet towel, and cover with a plastic cap for at least 15 minutes.

When we at Miss MyMy ask whether you'll be needing any products, bear this in mind: you've just invested in your beautiful hair, whether a unit or extensions. Using the proper products to care for your unit only enhances your original investment. With proper care and maintenance, your unit will look beautiful and behave beautifully, for a much longer time!

Paris Hilton Sued for $35M for Wearing Someone Else's Fake Hair

      FoxNews.com

      August 12, 2010

Paris Hilton was sued Wednesday for allegedly wearing someone else's hair.

A company that manufactures hair extensions claimed the 29-year-old socialite breached her contract to wear and promote their product when she sported the fake locks of a competitor in 2008.

Hairtech International Inc. is seeking $35 million in damages — 10 times what she was apparently paid under the contract. The fraud and breach-of-contract suit cites the heiress' partying as contrary to Hairtech's marketing campaign.

The filing also claims Hilton missed a launch party for the hair extension line because she was serving a stint in jail in 2007. Hilton served 23 days in 2007 after she was caught driving twice on a suspended license while on probation for reckless driving.

The filing states the company's lost $6.6 million on the launch party alone, although a jury or judge will have to decide whether Hilton owes any money if the case goes to trial.

Phone and e-mail messages to Hilton's publicist Dawn Miller were not immediately returned Wednesday.

The case isn't the first time Hilton's role as a pitchwoman has gotten her sued.

The producers of the film "Pledge This!" sued Hilton in 2008 in federal court in Miami, claiming she didn't properly promote the film. A judge ruled last year that she didn't owe the roughly $8.3 million it cost to the make the film, which played in fewer than two dozen theaters.

The court is still deciding how much, if any, of Hilton's $1 million fee for "Pledge This!" she may have to return to filmmakers.

Why not have fun with your hair???

Maybe it's just me, but I was reading a blog recently that listed hair extensions as one of the beauty trends that should go away. Really??? What next? Coloring your hair? Being blond? Highlights? Oh, that's right, chunky highlights also made that list. While there were a few things on their list that I would agree with (Barbie-fication a'la Heidi Montag), extreme tanning, and french pedicures, cliche' tattoos in languages you don't know, and "tramp stamps", I have to draw the line when it comes to hair extensions. First of all, I'm in the business of hair, so it's no big surprise that I would take issue with the author of the blog hoping to banish hair extensions to the realm of passe'; however, I got into the business of hair for many different reasons, one of which is quite simply I think hair is fun. I feel that people take hair way too seriously. Why not change it up as often as you can? Kudos to Victoria Beckham for always keeping them guessing. It's all about having fun, and changing up your look. While I'm not too fond of the way her extensions are looking in the picture of her in the yellow (Miss MyMy would love to add a lot of volume and a bit more length), I do admire that she doesn't appear to be stuck on any one style; be it being blond, brunette, short hair, bob cut, or flowing locks. It's just hair! Why not have fun with it???
Posh Spice, for your versatility, Miss MyMy gives you 4 MyMy's . Feel free to call me, girl. I'll add that volume for you.

News Flash! Finally, Paris Hilton with a GOOD Weave!

I figured that heading would get your attention LOL. I was doing my usual browsing of the web, looking mostly for pictures of bad celebrity hair, and lo and behold, I stumbled upon this picture of a barely recognizable Miss Paris Hilton. Gaaasssp! While her extensions still look a bit "extension-y" in this picture, I must say that this is the best I have seen her hair looking. Ever. Did I say...EVER??! Paris looks absolutely lovely in this picture; very girl-next-door, and wholesome, like you would let her babysit your kids. Obviously I'm joking. I mean, let's not forget, this is Paris Hilton. I don't even think Nicole Richie would let her babysit little Rumrunner Raisin and MazdaSweetsummer-Springandfall. But her hair looks great in this pic, and that to me, is newsworthy! Miss MyMy gives Paris 4 MyMyMyMy's out of 5.

...and the Hair Improvement Award goes to...

Just kidding, no award here. You guys must know, that since I'm in the business of hair, I am always looking for images of hair; celebrity hair, good weaves, bad weaves, great hair, hair DISASTERS, and so on. I've done the last few entries on BAD celebrity hair, so I think it only fair to post up some pics of some celebs who have their hair in order. In order to show their good, however, I'm going to show how they have improved! First up: JLo, Jenny from the Block, Jennifer Lopez, Mrs. Marc Anthony. Apparently the first picture was snapped as she left her hairdresser's. REALLY???? When I first saw this picture, I thought it was a JLo impersonator. So many words came to mind. Words like, elf, drag, sideburns, and pixie. In the second pic, you can see, Ms. Lopez can be commended for proper use of hair extensions. She's used them to add volume and length to her hair as well as texture with those nice chunky highlights. I'll give her 3 MyMyMy's of out 5.

Next up: Nicole Richie. It seems that when Nicole's friendship with Paris Hilton fizzled, the quality of her hair extensions improved significantly. Nicole was always guilty of the dreaded "obvious" natural hair-hair extension attachment line. Whewww..what a mouthful! You could always tell where her extensions began and ended. Her hair always looked like a matted, hot mess. Very bad! BUT she has matured into a mother and wife, and since ditching Paris, her hair has improved, so Nicole Richie gets 2.5 MyMyM's out of 5.

Finally...Brandy. Ray Jay's sister LOL It's hard to really pick on Brandy for the braids in that picture, because she was very young, it was the 90's...blah blah blah. So I'll be kind and gloss over the "before" infractions. In the "after" picture, I think Brandy has matured into a very stylish, sexy woman, and her hair looks great! I'll give her 4 MyMyMyMy's!
