Styling Tips for Curly Hair

While the Miss MyMy curly hair wigs and extensions http://www.missmymy.com/wigs.html
http://www.missmymy.com/remi_cuticle.html are a truly beautiful thing, there are a few things you should know in order to keep your curl looking it's Miss MyMy best.

Clean
Curly hair tends to get very dry very quickly. It's imperative that you wash your hair at least weekly with a moisturizing shampoo. Miss MyMy's Nourishing Shampoo is formulated to clean your hair without stripping your hair. People tend to think that frequent washing will wash out all the moisture from their hair, but think of it this way: when you wash your hair, you are saturating it with water, cleaning away pollutants and build up which can cause your hair to not behave properly. Believe it or not, even your natural scalp oil if allowed to build up for weeks on end (trust me, Miss MyMy has seen it ALL!) can cause the hair on your wig to break.

Condition
Once you've cleaned your hair, you want to lock in some of that moisture with a good conditioner. Miss MyMy's Pliant Conditioner Series is specially formulated to replenish your hair with moisture. Your hair is left feeling silky and smelling great too! I like to comb my conditioner through with a wide tooth comb.

Serum

I was reading in a fashion magazine this morning about caring for curly hair (which is where I got the idea of today's blog topic) and one of the things mentioned, was serum. Well, well, well...Miss MyMy has been shouting the praises on Miss MyMy Hair Essence Hair Serum for years! This is the second article in the past couple weeks that I've seen them mention the importance of serum. In one of my previous posts, I mentioned using serum with styling to achieve the long, straight look. I've been telling you all for years, with your curly hair, whether it's a wig or hair extensions, you'll want to smooth some serum through your wet hair. Comb it through thoroughly. Allow it to air dry UNDISTURBED if you can. If you can't, then blow dry using a diffuser. SCRUNCH those curls!

Avoid Over Touching
While your hair is drying, resist the temptation to run your fingers through. All that touching creates friction. Friction creates frizz! I know, it's hard to resist touching your lovely Miss MyMy hair ;-)

Periodic Deep Treatments
At least once every 4-6 weeks, give that hair a deep treatment. If it's a removable unit, Miss MyMy Spa dip is an excellent product! (soon available online) Simply add a small amount to some warm water in a basin, and soak your (already washed) unit for at least 30 minutes. If your unit is sewn in or glued on, you can apply a deep treatment, wrap hair in a warm wet towel, and cover with a plastic cap for at least 15 minutes.

When we at Miss MyMy ask whether you'll be needing any products, bear this in mind: you've just invested in your beautiful hair, whether a unit or extensions. Using the proper products to care for your unit only enhances your original investment. With proper care and maintenance, your unit will look beautiful and behave beautifully, for a much longer time!

...and the Hair Improvement Award goes to...

Just kidding, no award here. You guys must know, that since I'm in the business of hair, I am always looking for images of hair; celebrity hair, good weaves, bad weaves, great hair, hair DISASTERS, and so on. I've done the last few entries on BAD celebrity hair, so I think it only fair to post up some pics of some celebs who have their hair in order. In order to show their good, however, I'm going to show how they have improved! First up: JLo, Jenny from the Block, Jennifer Lopez, Mrs. Marc Anthony. Apparently the first picture was snapped as she left her hairdresser's. REALLY???? When I first saw this picture, I thought it was a JLo impersonator. So many words came to mind. Words like, elf, drag, sideburns, and pixie. In the second pic, you can see, Ms. Lopez can be commended for proper use of hair extensions. She's used them to add volume and length to her hair as well as texture with those nice chunky highlights. I'll give her 3 MyMyMy's of out 5.

Next up: Nicole Richie. It seems that when Nicole's friendship with Paris Hilton fizzled, the quality of her hair extensions improved significantly. Nicole was always guilty of the dreaded "obvious" natural hair-hair extension attachment line. Whewww..what a mouthful! You could always tell where her extensions began and ended. Her hair always looked like a matted, hot mess. Very bad! BUT she has matured into a mother and wife, and since ditching Paris, her hair has improved, so Nicole Richie gets 2.5 MyMyM's out of 5.

Finally...Brandy. Ray Jay's sister LOL It's hard to really pick on Brandy for the braids in that picture, because she was very young, it was the 90's...blah blah blah. So I'll be kind and gloss over the "before" infractions. In the "after" picture, I think Brandy has matured into a very stylish, sexy woman, and her hair looks great! I'll give her 4 MyMyMyMy's!

Britney's keeping me busy...let Miss MyMy help you!

I think it's safe to say Britney must pay a lot of money to get her hair "did". So can anyone explain to me why she's always caught out there (to quote Kelis) with her hair looking so putrid??? I know, there really is no explanation. It just hurts my heart to see her extensions looking so jacked up. On that note, who the HELL is her stylist??? I want to know who in Hollywood is ducking behind trees, and hiding behind newspapers and sunglasses so they won't get fingered as Britney Spears Stylist. SHAME SHAME SHAME on you, whoever you are. Britney, like I said before...come here sweetie...Miss MyMy wants to help you. I can guarantee you will never be seen in bad extensions AGAIN!

Miss MyMy wants to save Hollywood!

Okay, you guys have got to be on my side with this one. So this morning I'm browsing the web, looking up pics of weaves and wigs, and I come across (it was so hard to pick just one celebrity) these pictures of Britney Spears sporting one of the most disastrous weaves I have ever seen. I'm still sitting here, mouth agape... Britney sweetie, you have all the money in the world (well half, after you pay K-Fed his ch'sup)! HONESTLY??? you PAID someone for that??? And you probably paid a pretty penny too. Someone is out there giving the art of hair weaving a really bad name. Britney, if you hear me...give Miss MyMy a call. Girl, let us hook your stuff UP!!!
